Dental implants have been around for decades. It is one of the most effective ways to restore missing teeth and is highly regarded by dentists. With the invention of All-on-4, dental implants have become more effective and convenient, with the entire process completed in a single day. It has been designed to rehabilitate patients who have lost an entire arch of teeth.
What Are the Benefits Of All-on-4?
- All-on-4 allows you to regain your smile with a full set of teeth in a single day. Most people who have had their teeth extracted cannot smile or feel self-conscious about their appearance until they get their teeth replaced. With All-on-4, this issue can be addressed immediately, allowing you to smile confidently once again.
- The entire process can be completed in just one day. Other types of dental implants can take several months to complete due to various factors such as bone loss or gum disease that must be treated first before getting started on them.
- All-on-4 requires minimal healing time. Most other types of dental implants need several weeks to heal and firmly bond with your jawbone before being restored with crowns or bridges. However, due to its unique design and fitting, All-on-4 needs less time to heal, allowing you to get back on your feet without worrying much about how it feels when eating or speaking normally.
What Is the Procedure For All-on-4?
The procedure begins with the dentist taking X-rays and scans of your mouth to determine if you meet all the necessary requirements for the All-on-4 procedure. If you do not have enough bone density in your jaw, we will use a bone graft. This will be done by placing bone chips harvested from your hipbone directly into the missing areas in your jaw. The bone graft will allow the implant to be inserted properly into your jawbone.
Once this has been completed, your gums and soft tissues will be numbed using local anesthesia. Titanium implants (made from biocompatible material) will be inserted into four strategic points on your jawbone. Dental cement will be used to fix it in place and ensure it doesn’t move out of position in the future.
Then, an abutment will be attached to the implants and on them will be placed a temporary arch of artificial teeth. With this, you can smile more confidently, but you can’t eat any hard foods until the jawbone heals and bonds with the implants, which may take a few weeks.
During one of your next visits to our dentist’s office, we will determine if the jawbone has sufficiently healed. If so, we will replace the temporary arch with the permanent restoration on the abutments. Once it is checked for fit and comfort, the entire set of teeth will be secured with dental cement and polished to enhance their appearance and make them look exactly like your natural teeth.
